Malaysian Armed Forces Open Day

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

ad_seal3.jpgMmm…this is something I shouldn’t missed. With that, me and friend headed towards ‘Dataran Merdeka’ where this was held on 31st Jan 2009. Well, I would say, this is not new, I remember they had it many times before, but it’s the 1st time I went myself.

Briefly, there’s nothing much new thing to see, except that you have a chance to be up close and personal with the officers, be it regular infantry soldier or special forces (Gerakhas, PASKAL, PASKAU etc). It was fun to get a static ride on the APC, tank (?) and jeep. Chances to get hold on metal M4, M16, SMG, Barret Sniper rifles etc is a good opp esp for 1st timer. One thing though, I doubt they show all the latest and best arsenal in their inventory for obvious reason!

Airsoft:THE ROLES - Sniper vs. Designated Marksman

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

From: Tactical Airsoft Magazine

The Roles:

Sniper vs. Designated Marksman
By: Patrick Scott

3military2_specforcessniper_photo_02_dl.jpgAs many of you in the sport will attest, one of the least expensive ways to get into airsoft is by buying an airsoft sniper rifle. However, many, if not most, of the players who get into the sport this way find that they want to act more like Designated Marksmen rather than the Sniper that their equipment would dictate as their role. For many, this is because they find that they like the faster pace of going after their opponents. For others, it is simply because they do not understand their role in an airsoft engagement as a sniper. The purpose of this article, therefore, is to educate the airsoft community as to what each role entails, and how to act accordingly.

The Sniper
The role of the sniper, contrary to popular belief, is not to be an assassin-like
shooter. It is not the sniper’s primary job to find the target, eliminate it and move on to
another target. It is the sniper’s job to shoot when the situation calls for it. However, the
primary role of a sniper, believe it or not, is to observe and report. They are intelligence
gatherers first, shooters second.

Better than M4, but you can’t have one

Delta Force worked with a gun maker to come up with a better weapon. The 416 is now considered in many circles to be the best carbine in the world, but the regular Army is sticking with the M4 and M16.

Survival tips

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

military2_armyparatrooper_photo_01_dp.jpgThe following is the military’s quick survival reference when soldiers find themselves behind enemy lines. But these same skills are highly relevant for civilian survival in the wilderness.

The team travelling light, bringing only the essentials (swim gear, F/A,ammo, Echo-echo kit, and first aid kit for the down teammate) in order not to compromise the ability to move and react swiftly

Saigon: Shooting Ak47 and M16 with LIVE ammo!!

Friday, November 28th, 2008

img_3453_800x533.jpgThis is the videos of my 1st experience shooting the AK47 and M16 with live ammunition, when I was in Saigon, Vietnam in Nov 2008. Sadly the videos was a short one as most pics were captured on a camera. Nevertheless it was an awesome experience and I will definitely do it again if I have a chance!

Here’s the complete pics of my adventure in Saigon, Vietnam. (Note: It will be VERY slow the 1st time you view it, but it will be perfectly fast after a while, as Windows save the cache in, even after you open it many weeks later…You might require ‘flashplayer’ to play this, which you can download from here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/?promoid=DXLUJ)

Manila: 13th - 17th October 2008

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

Hi,
Again, I’m back in Manila, one of my favorite city. This time it’s just a short trip and will have a meeting with few customers before goin’ back home. Nothing fancy to talk about, just a few meeting and at the point of writing this, I haven’t been to anywhere yet. Probably I will walk around and look for something interesting later, well, AIRSOFT! of course…

_44269376_manila_hotel_map416.gifThis time I’m staying in Peninsula Hotel, Manila, one of the premier hotel here in Manila. It is located on the corner of Ayala Avenue and Makati Avenue in in the central business district of Makati City, in Metro Manila. It is located also in Barangay Urdaneta. This hotel is part of The Peninsula Hotels chain based in Hong Kong and is the first hotel of that chain outside of the Chinese territory. The Peninsula asserted itself as the “Jewel in the Capital’s Crown”.

AIRSOFTAHOLICS ANONYMOUS

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

cqb_1.jpg

“Hello, my name is John. I’m an airsoftaholic…”

“…I have slept on the couch and on the floor because my guns and gear have taken over my bed. My rifle has been modified and upgraded so many times that none of the original parts are left. The first thing I do at work is log on to an airsoft forum and check whether my buddies sent me an invite to the next game. I wear a ghillie suit and sit in the garden for hours on end just to blend with the foliage. I’ve seriously contemplated quitting my job to follow my “true calling”. I have completely forgotten about family and everything else in my life. All I live for now is the next big game…”

Our friend, “John” is but one among thousands of individuals afflicted with an incurable, drug-resistant strain of “airsoftitis”. Often, symptoms may not be apparent or detectable. He is just like anyone else: a professional with a degree in business arts or medicine, a college kid on summer holiday, a mill worker on leave or your neighbor two blocks down who likes to plink. Sometimes,
he may even be a “she”.

Why the side arm DOES matter

Monday, April 7th, 2008

The Science of the Side Arm
Why the side arm DOES matter

militaryredep2_armyparatrooper-r3_photo_01_dp.jpgWe all understand what the side arm is: that last resort weapon, most of the time being a pistol, that’s ready at your side in the event your primary weapon runs out of ammo during a firefight, becomes inoperable, or for some other reason you cannot use your primary weapon. They are normally easy to access, whether in a holster, leg holster, in an easy-to-reach pouch, pocket, wherever.

Most people glance the side arm as that extra luggage. You only bring it “because you might need it.” Well I’m writing to tell you, that’s not true.

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

military2_armyparatrooper_photo_01_dp.jpgWhere to point your gun, when to point it, where to fire it, how to fire it, when to fire it, are all extremely important to understand. Beginner airsofters have the tendency to ignore these concepts. This article is to show the different methods of firing your AEG. This first section will explain some rules that would be beneficial to follow.
